Outsourcing firm Northgate in talks with potential suitors

U.S. investment firm General Atlantic Partners and other venture capital firms are in talks with Britain's Northgate Information Solutions Plc over a possible takeover that could be worth more than 600 million pounds ($1.13 billion), a newspaper reported on Thursday.

Northgate Information Solutions confirmed last week that it has received several acquisition offers. Northgate's business has two divisions: a human resources arm and public services arm.

The announcement follows a plethora of contracts that Northgate has recently won, including a three-year contract worth more than £1.1m with builders merchant Travis Perkins to support its computers, peripherals and communications equipment.
