Infineon Technologies Case Study - Integrated outsourcing with KellyOCG
Infineon Technologies AG, offers semiconductor and system solutions
for automotive, industrial and multimarket sectors, for applications in
communication. With a global presence, Infineon operates through
its subsidiaries in the US from San Jose, CA, in the Asia-Pacific region
from Singapore and in Japan from Tokyo. In fiscal year 2007(ending
September), the company (including Qimonda) achieved sales of Euro
7.7 billion with about 43,000 employees worldwide.
In the past, recruiting at Infineon had involved mainly fixed overheads.
In-house staff handled the recruiting processes, usually producing
overheads regardless of how many vacancies actually had to be filled.
The recruiting model developed for Infineon tackled precisely this
point. The costs were no longer to be determined by the service time,
but by the value actually created in the recruiting process.
Infineon chose the form of integrated outsourcing. The tasks
outsourced were mainly those of administrative applicant handling
for permanent positions, as well as the majority of the processes for
In order to achieve maximum flexibility of the recruiting processes

Integrated outsourcing with KellyOCG
When companies like Infineon are able to capitalize fix costs into variable costs by the recruiting support of KellyOCG and get a precise as well as individual service, this demonstrates more than just a competitive advantage.
Infineon can individually determine the
extent to which KellyOCG is involved in the selection process.
Upon opening the vacancy, the responsible member of HR at
Infineon decides which profile type and thus which selection process
is to be used.
In addition to the cost and flexibility aspects, Infineon gains further
benefits by outsourcing its recruiting processes. For example, exact
service standards have been agreed, ensuring a standardised quality
of processing across all sites. A permanent service controlling system
makes sure that these service levels are kept to.
The IT Platform
KellyOCG provides its own E-Recruitment software, the “Recruiters’
Center”, for the administration of the positions, applicants and
processes. This workflow management system has been adapted to
the requirements of Infineon and is currently used in both Germany
The KellyOCG Recruiters’ Center provides all those involved in the
recruitment process – whether in the individual departments or HR -
with permanent access to the applicants and allows easy management
of the employment process. All those involved in the recruitment
process can access the Recruiters’ Center at any time and from
anywhere around the world independently of Infineon’s own IT system.
Candidates who are fundamentally of interest are registered in a Talent
Pool should there be no current vacancies. When new positions open
up, these profiles are checked again and the job description sent to
Since the project started in 2004 there have been more than 11,000
vacancies posted by KellyOCG, more than 200,000 applications
handled, more than 8,000 interviews conducted and more than 14,000
Thanks to their outsourcing, Infineon has been able to increase its
flexibility and thus achieve cost benefits. KellyOCG can realize mediumterm
cost savings of some 15 percent thanks to better economies of
scale. However, the deciding factor for Infineon is the flexibility of their
costs compared to their previous fixed overheads.
By harmonising differing local systems, standardising and depicting
processes in their entirety, increasing transparency and accelerating the
process times, the Recruiters’ Center has played a major role in all this.
